Teaching Artist

Working with young people is one of the greatest joys of my life.

When I was twelve years old, my parents signed me up for Bay Area Shakespeare Camp at San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and I immediately caught the bug. A decade later, I am teaching the camps that made me fall in love with Shakespeare.

During my time as an undergrad at NYU, I studied methods of Applied Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed. My teaching philosophy follows these principles; I believe theatre can be a vehicle for societal change and personal growth, as well as a therapeutic outlet. I believe that Shakespeare, especially, is an awesomely powerful storytelling vehicle that can build bridges, strengthen communities, and shed light on important social issues.

I hope to be the teacher I never had growing up— a representation of my intersecting identities and communities. I hope to set an example for LGBT+ students, neurodivergent students, BIPOC students, and students who belong to ethnic minorities. I hope to inspire the next generation of theatremakers to work hard, shoot for the stars, and follow their dreams!
